Job Summary:
The Head Start Lead Teacher in Training is a pre-professional training / teaching position that reports directly to Classroom Supervisors and under the mentorship of a HS Lead Teacher. The purpose of the Teacher in Training is to gain the Head Start and Vermont credential and skills to implement high quality caregiving for preschoolers in a center-based setting. Rutland County Head Start Lead Teacher provides effective and nurturing teacher-child interactions, plan and implement learning experiences that ensure effective curriculum implementation and use of assessment and promote children's progress across the standards described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five and applicable state early learning and development standards, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners, as appropriate. Mentoring of a Lead Teacher and Supervision from Classroom Team Supervisor, the Teacher in Training will plan/prepare activities in accordance with the Creative Curriculum, incorporating the Head Start Program Performance Standards and VT licensing.
