Maplewood Shift Lead

About the Role:

In addition to Recovery Specialist responsibilities, the Shift Leader will provide oversight of the day-to-day operations and maintain a safe, healthy, and therapeutic residential environment. The Shift Leader will coordinate client services, maintain adherence with daily schedule, ensure treatment and discharge plans are being followed, mentor new staff, assist with staffing coverage. Assisting clients in minimizing symptoms of acute psychiatric episodes by structuring wellness activities, assessing needs and preferences within the residence and in the community, supportive counseling, planning discharge services and assisting clients for reintegration into community. The Shift Leader will steer effective communication and a good working relationship with the treatment team across all shifts to deliver efficient and effective care to clients, resulting in their return to home/community.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate client services.
  • Effective shift coordination in adherence with daily and group schedule.
  • Ensure treatment plans are followed and discharge plans are complete.
  • Mentor new staff.
  • Confirm quality and completeness of client notes.
  • Maintain 30 min head count and shift responsibilities sheets.
  • Responsible for helping maintain coverage on all shifts for the delivery of services.
  • Provide leadership and support to team members in crisis situations.
  • Manage cross shift communication.
  • Attendance at all meetings and trainings required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, human services, social work, or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a Residential Recovery Specialist or similar position.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to defuse challenging situations and work in a collaborative environment
  • Proficiency with computers, experience entering data into electronic medical records program
  • Knowledge and ability to work effectively with adults experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms as part of a team of professional care providers.
  • Understanding of the etiology and treatment of mental illness.
  • Ability to provide recovery-oriented counseling/support.
  • Ability to work with clients and their families in a residential-based setting.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to balance autonomy and work within team structure.
  • Able to flex schedule as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation with personal automobile liability insurance coverage at or above the levels mandated by the State of Vermont.
