Substance Use Disorder Counselor


Community Care Network is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor in Rutland, Vermont.

About the Role:

The Adult SUD Counselor provides services and supports to adults seeking treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders. This position works as part of the Adult multi-disciplinary team to ensure services are provided utilizing best practices based on assessed needs, individualized goals, and with client preferences. The Counselor role provides opportunity for growth, creativity, and exploration of professional interests. Clinical services include individual and group psychotherapy, service planning and coordination. This role receives regular individual supervision toward licensure, in addition to weekly group supervision, and training opportunities.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provide initial intake evaluation appointments if needed
  • Provide services that are evidence based, best practice, and individualized for the client.
  • Attend regular supervision, and seek support as needed from peers, supervisor(s), managers, and director.
  • Facilitate access and referral for additional resources/supports.
  • Facilitate psychotherapy/psycho education groups as appropriate to program needs and as agreed upon with supervisor.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Associates Degree from accredited college
    • 40 hours of Substance Abuse Specific Education within previous 5years
    • Willing to take AAP exam within 120 days of hire

Or-

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline; Master's Degree preferred.
    • Willing to take AAP exam within 120 days of hire

Or-

  • Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor in Vermont (or eligible within 18 months of hire; Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LADC) in Vermont

Or-

  • LICSW, LCMHC, or listed on Vermont Roster of Non-licensed & Non-registered Psychotherapists**
  • Prior experience working in the field of substance use disorders preferred
  • Knowledge of current substance use treatment methods
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
  • Must be client centered, trauma informed, and recovery oriented.
  • *Successful completion of a criminal history background check after hire.
