Shift Lead- Maplewood/CSID

General Summary:

In addition to Recovery Specialist responsibilities, the Shift Leader will provide oversight of the day to day operations and maintain a safe, healthy and therapeutic residential environment.  The Shift Leader will coordinate client services, maintain adherence with daily schedule, ensure treatment and discharge plans are being followed, mentor and train new staff, assist with staffing coverage.  Responsible for the admission of clients who meet Rutland Recovery Residence criteria by completing assessments, reviewing client's rights, responsibilities, guidelines and services, in accordance with established protocol; assisting clients in minimizing symptoms of acute psychiatric episodes by structuring wellness activities, assessing needs and preferences within the residence and in the community, supportive counseling, planning discharge services and assisting clients for reintegration into community. The Shift Leader will steer effective communication and a good working relationship with the treatment team across all shifts to deliver efficient and effective crisis care to clients, resulting in their return to home/community. 

Principle Responsibilities:

Shift Leader

  1. Coordinate client services.

  2. Effective shift coordination in adherence with daily and group schedule.

  3. Ensure treatment plans are followed and discharge plans are complete.

  4. Mentor and train new staff.

  5. Confirm quality and completeness of client notes.

  6. Maintain cleaning schedule.

  7. Responsible for developing and implementing staff schedule for the delivery of services.

  8. Provide leadership and support to team members in crisis situations.

  9. Manage cross shift communication.

  10. Attendance at all meetings and trainings required.

    Recovery Specialist

  1. Adheres to program philosophy, policies and procedures including established   entrance, continued stay, and discharge criteria.

2.    Provides outcome oriented client services in accordance to their personal treatment   plan including :

a) Providing direct billable services as needed for clients in the residential home.

b) Utilizing a recovery model, providing supportive counseling and constructive interactions to promote consumer stability and ability to cope with and adapt to new challenges.

c) Accurately observes, monitors and documents consumer behavior and assist in assessing stability.

d) Implements problem-solving strategies to address difficult, potentially dangerous consumer behavior.

e) Coordinates and assists consumers with attendance at appointments, programs or activities in the community.

f) Facilitates daily wellness activities including skill building groups and community integration activities.

g) Assists consumers with developing ADLs including hygiene, rest, nutrition and activity.

f) Transports clients as necessary using personal vehicle

3.    Ensures the timely completion of all records and data collection as required by program,   State, and accrediting bodies.

4.    Works as an effective member of the support team.

5.    Attends staff meetings and trainings on a regular basis.

6.  Assists Residential program leaders with co-worker training as requested.

7.  Participates in community education activities as requested by supervisor.

8.  Provide program assistance to Program Coordinator for the following items:

  • Assist with RRS scheduling to meet the needs of the program.

  • Provide logistical and practical support to other RRS staff; assist with questions about behavioral interventions.

  • Assist with training and orienting new RRS staff and continued training compliance for all Maplewood and CSID staff.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma required.  Bachelor's degree in psychology, human services, social   work or related field preferred.  A minimum of one year experience in a RRS or similar position.  Previous supervisory experience preferred.  Valid Vermont Driver's License and the minimum amount of auto insurance required by the state.

    Knowledge and ability to work effectively with adults experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms as part of a team of professional care providers. Understanding of the etiology and treatment of mental illness.  Ability to provide recovery-oriented counseling/support.  Ability to work with clients and their families in a residential-based setting.  Excellent time management skills.  Ability to balance autonomy and work within team structure.
